Medical billing work scams amount to nothing more than "How To" manuals, some of which cost you $300-$900. These scams claim to provide everything you need to prepare for and locate medical billing work in your area. You're promised ready made medical billing software, as well as a list of potential clients in your area. What you're not told is that most medical clinics process their own bills, or that they outsource medical billing work firms, not individuals. Your software may not meet their specifications, and often the lists of "potential clients" are outdated
or just plain wrong.

The best way to avoid medical billing work scams is to ask if there are any guarantees of you finding clients. If they can't assure you of legitimate medical billing work after buying their program or package, then they may just be wasting your time, and they probably are a scam. True medical billing work, especially from home or online, comes from acquiring the proper skills and training, usually through medical billing work degree programs or certificate classes. Finding work also involves using your own experience. You will want to start off processing claims perhaps, or doing medical billing and coding for a Dr's office, clinic, or hospital. Once you are trained and experienced, then you can find legitimate medical billing work, in many cases, on your own.
